The 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML450 HYBRID is the new gas/electric version of this German automaker’s midsize SUV. ML450 pairs a 3.5-liter V6 engine with an electric motor for 355 horsepower. The sole transmission is a continuously variable automatic.

ML450 can run on one or both of its power sources to balance acceleration and fuel economy. No plug-in charging is required. Available features include a navigation system, rearview camera, and Mercedes’ PRE-SAFE system, which uses sensors to tighten the seatbelts and move the front passenger seat in the event of an unavoidable collision.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML450 HYBRID is slated to arrive at dealerships in December. Pricing has not been announced, but it should cost more than the $44,600 base ML350.
