BMW 750i ActiveHybrid

2010 BMW 750i
The 2010 BMW 750i ActiveHybrid is one of BMW’s first gas/electric hybrid models. The 7-Series is BMW’s largest car, and it will compete against Lexus’ established LS 600h L hybrid and Mercedes-Benz’s new S400 HYBRID. The ActiveHybrid pairs a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor for 427 horsepower total. It teams with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The hybrid system can shut off the gas engine at a stop, but the car can’t accelerate solely on electric power. No plug-in charging is required. The 750i ActiveHybrid has BMW’s iDrive control interface. It should also offer blind-spot alert, lane-departure warning, a head-up display, a hard drive for storing digital music files, night-vision camera, adaptive cruise control, DVD entertainment, and keyless access and engine start.

BMW has not yet announced availability or pricing for the 2010 750i ActiveHybrid. It should command a significant price premium over the $80,300 base of the gasoline only 2009 750i.
