Volvo V70

2008 Volvo V70
Volvo's V70 wagon was redesigned for 2008.

Also a member of the Class of ’08, Volvo’s V70 is basically a wagon version of the firm’s S80 sedan, and a front-drive version of the XC70 SUV-flavored wagon. In May 2009, Volvo sold only 96 V70s in the United States, so this impressive Swede is clearly overlooked.

A Consumer Guide Recommended pick, this wagon is nicely equipped at its roughly $33K base price. We were impressed with the base interior that was understated and tasteful in the Scandinavian way. V70 is also pleasant on the road, with more than adequate power, good ride quality, and--almost, but not quite--sporty handling. Like most European luxury cars, options can quickly inflate the bottom line, but careful navigation of the choices will keep the pricing in check. If you’re looking for an upscale wagon, don’t forget this Volvo.
