The painful restructurings that
Chrysler and General Motors have been going through has touched countless families, businesses, and communities across the country. Workers will lose their jobs, dealerships will close, and many factories will be shuttered--even my hometown’s Chrysler engine plant has been scheduled for closure. I don’t want to chronicle the series of events that have led these two companies to this point, but it is oversimplifying to only blame the products these firms offered.
The news surrounding these two companies is in flux on a daily basis so, as this is written, it is impossible to know exactly what the end results will be for both the companies and their existing product lines. Some brands are in the process of being sold, while others may be discontinued, but it seems clear that several car and truck lines--including some that are darn good offerings--will cease production. Here’s a list of my favorite cars that could or will be discontinued as part of the restructurings.
