2008 Ford Taurus X
The 2008 Ford Taurus X starts at $26,615.

Ford's Freestyle becomes the Taurus X for 2008, and along with the name change, this midsize SUV gets freshened styling and more power. Taurus X is essentially a wagon version of the Ford Taurus (formerly Five Hundred) sedan. All models have revised front-end appearance and suspension for 2008.

Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models return. The sole powertrain teams a 260-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. These replace a 203-horsepower 3.0 V6 and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Standard ABS and traction control are joined for '08 by an antiskid system.

A navigation system and DVD entertainment are optional. Also available is Ford's Sync, a voice-activated interface for cell phones and digital music players. Check back for our full review.
