International Truck heads into its 175th year of business by offering a range of products, including medium-duty passenger trucks and semitractor trailers. Over the past few years, International has been expanding its lineup by offering quasi-passenger vehicles aimed at those who need to tow more than a heavy-duty pickup can handle.

In addition, the company recently was awarded a contract to build a prototype vehicle for the U.S. military that could replace the venerable Humvee, which is built by AM General.

International launched its new MXT pickup truck at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show.

International Truck unveiled its 2007 MXT pickup at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. MXT is International's smallest offering, but it still dwarfs General Motors' Hummer H1 in size, payload, and towing capacity. This truck is more than 20 ft long and 8 ft wide. Its 300-hp diesel V8 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission, and 4-wheel drive allow it to tow up to 16,000 lbs.

MXT can haul up to 4,000 lbs in its 7-ft bed. Officials say MXT can do this with a fuel-economy range of 13-15 mpg. Prices weren't officially announced, but expect MXT to start at about $70,000 when it goes on sale in June.
