I feel a bit like I’m committing some sort of automotive heresy by picking this over the BMW 3-Series. While a 335i is a remarkable ride, I personally find something a bit cold and distant about that car, like I’m just along for the ride, with the car doing most of the work. That’s not a bad thing, per se, but I want to feel more a part of the driving experience.

A 3-Series is the quiet, stalwart black Labrador Retriever, a companion that brings you your slippers every day and does whatever else you ask with no fuss. And that’s perfectly fine for lots of folks. The G37 is more of a mutt that’s a bit crude in places, but it has so much personality, you can’t help but love it. Plus, you didn’t have to pay a pedigree price in order to get it.
