2008 Chrysler Pacifica Review
The 2008 Chrysler Pacifica carries over with no major changes for what Chrysler says is this slow-selling wagon's final model year. Pacifica blends car, SUV, and minivan traits, and all models offer front- or all-wheel drive. The base LX model seats five. Uplevel Touring and Limited seat six. The front-drive LX has a 200-hp 3.8-liter V6 and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Other Pacificas have a 255-hp 4.0-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 lb. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. The 2nd- and 3rd-row seats fold down but don't remove. Rear obstacle detection is standard on Limited, optional otherwise. Standard on Limited and optional on Touring are power-adjustable pedals, power liftgate, sunroof, and heated 1st- and 2nd-row seats. Other available features include a navigation system, rearview camera, DVD entertainment, and a wireless cell phone link.
Competition
Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Larger than Compact SUVs, Midsize SUVs offer a mix of car- and truck-type construction, V6 and V8 power, and up to eight-passenger seating. This class also includes crossover vehicles.

Our Best Buy choices are the Honda Pilot, GMC Acadia, Mazda CX-9, and Saturn Outlook. Our Recommended picks are the Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Veracruz, and Toyota Highlander.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Toyota Highlander.
