Vehicle Highlights

The 2012 Volvo XC60 sees some minor trim changes. This premium-compact SUV seats 5 and shares elements of its basic design with the Volvo XC70 station wagon. XC60 reprises base 3.2, uplevel T6, and sporty 3.2 R-Design and T6 R-Design trim levels. Front-wheel drive and a 240-horsepower 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine are standard on the 3.2. All-wheel drive is optional on this model. The T6 and T6 R-Design are AWD only and have a 300-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder. A 6-speed automatic is the sole transmission on all models. Maximum towing capacity is 3,300 pounds. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags. R-Design models have specific interior and exterior trim, 20-inch wheels, and a sport suspension. Volvo's City Safety accident-avoidance feature is standard. It automatically activates the brakes at low speeds to avoid or reduce the severity of a rear-end collision. Also standard is Volvo's Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake. This accident-avoidance feature uses sensors to detect pedestrians who might step in front of the vehicle. If this happens, the system can apply full braking force at speeds up to 22 mph. Blind-spot alert is optional. Leather upholstery and a sunroof are optional on the 3.2 and standard on the T6 and T6 R-Design. Among the available options are the Climate Package, which includes heated front and rear seats, heated windshield washer nozzles, and rain-sensing wipers. The Technology Package includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, driver fatigue alert, and forward-collision warning. A new Premier Plus Package includes front- and rear-obstacle detection, remote engine start, and a power tailgate. The new Platinum Package includes the content of the Premier Plus Package plus a navigation system, rearview camera, and an uplevel audio system.
