Vehicle Highlights
The 2012 Aston Martin Virage marks the revival of a nameplate last used by the firm in 1996. The new Virage slots between the DB9 and the its more sporting derivative, the DBS. This exotic sports car will be offered in 2-door coupe and convertible (Volante) body styles. Both seat 4, although the back seat of the coupe can be deleted. Styling tweaks differentiate the Virage from its siblings. Power is provided by Aston's 6.0-liter V12 putting out 490 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic with steering-wheel paddles for manual shifting is the only transmission. Aston quotes performance figures of 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph. An Adaptive Damping System (ADS) automatically adjusts the shock absorbers and has multiple driver-selectable settings. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and front-side airbags. Carbon-ceramic brake discs are standard. These are lighter and more heat resistant than conventional cast-iron discs. A navigation system, heated front seats, wood and leather interior trim, and automatic climate control are standard. Options include an uplevel Bang & Olufsen sound system and special interior trim.
