Vehicle Highlights
The 2010 Volvo C30 may add a new base model--the 2.4i. This 2-door hatchback is this Swedish automaker's smallest car, and it shares its basic design with the company's S40 sedan and V50 wagon. C30 is 8.5 inches shorter and about 300 pounds lighter than the S40. The 2010 C30 should reprise T5 and T5 R-Design trim levels. Both would use a turbocharged 227-hp 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual transmission or optional 5-speed automatic. The 2.4i would use the company's non-turbo 168-hp 2.4-liter 5-cylinder and a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features should include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. All C30s have four bucket-style seats. The T5 R-Design would continue to have a sport suspension and 18-inch wheels. Many options should return as part of the "Volvo C30 Custom Build" program that requires an additional fee. We have not yet tested a 2.4i. This report is based on evaluations of the 2009 Volvo C30.
