Vehicle Highlights
The 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser gets more power. This has styling inspired by Toyota's 1960s-era Land Cruisers. FJ seats five and has two main doors, two rear-hinged rear access doors, and no pillar between. A swing-out cargo door has opening glass and a mount for the spare tire. FJ comes with rear-wheel drive or with 4-wheel drive. The only engine is a 258-hp 4.0-liter V6, an increase of 19 hp from 2009. Automatic transmission is standard. The 4WD version is available with a manual transmission. Two 4WD systems are offered. Both have a low-range gear for off-roading, but only the 4WD system used with the manual transmission can be left engaged on dry pavement. Maximum towing capacity is 5000 lb. Rear-drive FJs include a limited-slip rear differential. A locking rear differential is standard with manual transmission and 4WD, optional otherwise. Available safety features include ABS, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. An off-road traction-control system is available on 4WD models. Optional equipment includes a rearview camera and rear-obstacle detection.
