Vehicle Highlights
The 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost, known in concept form as the 200EX or RR4, is a new 4-door, five-passenger, rear-drive sedan scheduled to go on sale in late 2009. Although it has often been billed as a smaller, "entry-level" companion to the make's larger Phantom sedan, it's really more of a smaller, higher-performance offering. Compared with the Phantom, the Ghost is shorter in wheelbase by about 11 inches and in overall length by 17, making it about half-a-foot longer than the Bentley Continental Flying Spur or Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan. Carried over from the Phantom are rear-hinged rear doors. The sole powertrain is a 6.6-liter turbocharged V12 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. An official horsepower figure has not yet been released, but Rolls-Royce claims it will be "upwards of 500"; by contrast, the Phantom's 6.75-liter V12 makes 453 hp. Other details are forthcoming, but expect a full complement of luxury and safety features, along with a Bespoke program that allows buyers to tailor colors and materials to their taste. We have not yet driven the 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost.
