Vehicle Highlights

The 2010 Nissan GT-R gets slightly more power and revised wheel designs. Long known as the Skyline GT-R in Japan, the GT-R is Nissan's flagship sports car. It comes in Base and Premium trim levels, both powered by a turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine. The 2010 version produces 485 horsepower, an increase of five from 2009 models. The engine teams with a 6-speed dual-clutch automated-manual transmission that behaves much like an automatic. It also includes steering-wheel shift paddles for manual operation. All-wheel drive is standard as are a sport suspension and 20-inch wheels with run-flat tires. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, and front-side airbags. A navigation system with hard drive for storing digital-music files is standard. Premium models have heated front seats and an uprated audio system. A no-charge Cold Weather Package includes special coolant and specific wheels and tires.

COMPETITION

Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Offering more power and style than typical Sporty/Performance vehicles, Premium-Sporty/Performance Cars usually cost much more and have more comfort and convenience equipment. Two-passenger convertibles and 4-seat coupes rule the roost in this class.

Our Best Buys are the Audi A5 and Chevrolet Corvette. Our Recommended pick is the Jaguar XK Series.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Audi A5 (convertible) and Porsche 911.
