There are few choices when it comes to small wagons, but at least the Hyundai Elantra Touring is a good one. Still, prices are steeper than other Elantras, so our 5-speed tester with about $2000 of options broke the $20,000 mark and dulls the value proposition.

Though not exactly what you'd call fun to drive, Elantra Touring is a pleasant, versatile little hauler. It's easier to see out of than a Chevy HHR and boasts greater refinement than a Toyota Matrix. It's a bit noisy, but it can tote a lot of gear and gets surprisingly good gas mileage. $20,445 for a company Hyundai seems pricey, but there really is a lot of car here for the money.

Elantra gives a lot for the money. Fuel economy is also good for a midsize sedan.
