Vehicle Highlights

The 2010 Honda Accord Sedan sees no major changes. Accord comes as a 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe (see separate report). Four-cylinder and V6-powered sedans are available with either a 177- or 190-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, or a 271-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. The V6 includes Honda's Variable Cylinder Management cylinder deactivation. Trim levels include LX, LX-P, EX, and EX-L. A 5-speed automatic transmission is available on all. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered on 4-cylinder versions. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Leather upholstery and a wireless cell-phone link are standard on EX-L models, but are not available otherwise. A navigation system is also available on the EX-L, and versions so equipped are priced as separate models.

COMPETITION

Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Midsize Cars represent the heart of the U.S. car market. Most are price-sensitive, conservatively designed, family-oriented sedans and wagons. Our Best Buys include the Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord sedan, Honda Accord coupe, Mazda 6, Mercury Milan, and Toyota Prius. Our Recommended picks are the Kia Rondo, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, and Toyota Camry.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Chrysler Sebring, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord Crosstour, Mercury Milan, Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, Suzuki Kizashi, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Prius. Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan also gain gas/electric hybrid models for 2010.
