The 2010 Chevrolet Colorado is largely unchanged. This compact pickup truck shares its basic design with the GMC Canyon. Regular, extended, and crew cab body styles are offered. Regulars and extendeds have a 6-foot cargo bed. Crew Cabs have a 5-foot bed. Trim levels, depending on body style, include Work, 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. All Colorados offer rear-wheel drive or part-time 4-wheel drive that should not be left engaged on dry pavement but has a low-range gear for off-roading. Standard on most models is a 185-hp 2.9-liter 4-cylinder engine. Standard on 4WD Crew Cabs and optional on other Colorados is a 242-hp 3.7-liter 5-cylinder engine. A 300-hp 5.3-liter V8 is standard on 3LT models and optional on most 1LT and 2LT versions. Four-cylinder models are available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Five-cylinder and V8 versions use the automatic only. Maximum towing capacity is 6000 lb. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. 2LT models have a standard off-road suspension, while 3LT versions have s sport suspension.
