Vehicle Highlights
The 2010 Audi A8 should be redesigned. This is Audi's largest, most-expensive car. Returning should be regular-length and extended L versions that are about 5 inches longer in wheelbase and overall length. Base and L models should continue to be standard with a 350-hp 4.2-liter V8. The sporty S8 should return as a regular-length model that may get a 5.0-liter V10 that makes about 500 hp. The W12 model likely will be replaced with a new V12 version, which would have a 6.0-liter turbodiesel 12-cylinder engine. All A8 models should continue to have Audi's quattro all-wheel drive and a driver-adjustable suspension. An 8-speed automatic transmission may become standard across the lineup. S8s will likely continue to have specific suspension tuning, trim, and styling. Base and L models should continue to offer a Sport Package with a sport-tuned adaptive air suspension and steering wheel gearshift paddles. Available safety features should include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front and rear side airbags, as well as front knee airbags. Front and rear obstacle detection, keyless entry and starting, blind-spot alert, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control should remain among the available features. This report is based on evaluations of the 2009 Audi A8.
