The Volkswagen Routan offers some upgrades over the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan that it is based on, but lacks some of the Chrysler twins innovative seating options. If you are looking at minivans, add the Routan to your shopping list.

Tough decision, classy cabin or Stow 'n Go seats. I might go with the classy cabin. Volkswagen opted out of offering Stow 'n Go seating on its version of Chrysler's Town & Country (and Dodge Grand Caravan) minivan, instead offering much more comfortable 2nd-row seats. VW also does a better cabin, and this van looks notably more upscale. Almost everything else is about the same, as you would expect from two vans built in the same place on the same architecture with the same drivetrains. Note: While Routan prices look little higher than those of Chrysler's vans, there's little chance VW ever offers matching rebates and incentives.
