Toyota's Venza is fairly practical and roomy, but it seems compromised by the American-market realities that prefer SUV-flavored crossovers over the traditional station wagon. Pluses include a comfortable interior, decent fuel economy, and a reasonably car-like driving experience, but prices are high, the ride is fairly stiff and noisy on Chicago-area roads, and this test car had a disappointing number of dashboard parts that didn't fit together very well.

Jennifer Geiger

Venza is a comfortable and versatile family mobile, but it strikes me as pretty expensive. Granted, our test model was a loaded V6 model with AWD, but $38,000 is too steep for what is basically a Camry wagon.

John Biel

This tester's enthusiasm for the Venza as a people- and cargo-hauler was tempered by its uninspiring ride and imperfect interior assembly, especially for a delivered price (as optioned) that tops $38,000.

Tom Appel

Less important than what Venza is, is what Venza does. Venza is an ideal people hauler and errand runner. Sadly, too-large wheel and tire combos result in sub-par ride comfort. Also a shame is the disappointing fit and finish in our test car. Cabin panel gaps that were once impossible to imagine in a Toyota are now common. A shame, because Venza is otherwise a very nice car/truck.
