In terms of performance and driving dynamics, the Toyota Prius is about as uninvolving as a car can be. However, I completely understand its appeal. It asks its drivers and passengers to give up relatively little in exchange for its outstanding fuel efficiency. Plus, its futuristic styling and unconventional controls (the PC-like "power-on" button, the joystick-like shift lever) provide subtle, almost subconscious assurance that the Prius is one of the most high-tech cars on the road.

The 2009 Toyota Prius may be a bland driving experience but few, if any, cars this practical can come anywhere close to its ability to stretch the most miles out of a gallon of gas. Prius isn't going to appeal to everyone, but those who like the idea behind it will almost certainly love the car.

Prius is fuel efficient and roomy but the price premium for hybrid power and the eventual battery pack replacement would buy a lot of gas.

It's expensive to buy and it's quirky to drive, so the Prius isn't for everyone. But people who wish to put their long green into going "green" deserve to have their automotive choices and the Prius certainly is one of them.
