Corolla does a great job providing a smooth, fairly quiet ride and surprisingly good fuel economy. It isn't sporty, and some rivals have nicer interiors, but Corolla is a solid choice for compact sedan shoppers.

Corolla defines basic, point A to point B, no frills transportation. It's comfortable enough and quite economical. Lose the $1000 optional audio system, and the XLE comes in at less than $19,000. Not a bad deal, but for similar money, I'd rather have a Hyundai Elantra, which is quieter, more refined, and has nicer interior appointments.

Corolla doesn't really impress. Many of its shortcomings are shared by other budget-minded compact cars (it's slow, loud, and has a cheap looking and feeling interior) but for $19,920, I expected Corolla to be a step above class competitors.
