Vehicle Highlights

The 2009 Suzuki XL7 gets a revised model lineup and a new transmission. This midsize crossover SUV accommodates up to seven passengers on standard three-row seating. The Base trim level and all five-passenger models have been discontinued. XL7 now comes in Premium, Luxury, and Limited trims. All have a 252-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission replaces a 5-speed automatic. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 lb. All trim levels offer front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. A load-leveling suspension is standard on all. Limited models have leather upholstery, a sunroof, and navigation system. DVD entertainment is optional on the Limited, and versions so equipped are priced as separate models. This evaluation is based on test drives of the 2008 Suzuki XL7 with the 5-speed automatic transmission.
