The 2009 Pontiac Vibe is redesigned with freshened styling, more power, and new features. It also marks the model year with the return of all-wheel drive and sport-themed models. Vibe is a 4-door wagon that shares its basic design with the similarly redesigned 2009 Toyota Matrix. The 2009 Vibe is almost identical in size compared with the 2003-2008 models. Front-drive models are offered in base and GT trims. Also available is the AWD Base. Base 1.8 versions have a 132-hp 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. Base 2.4, AWD Base, and GT models have a 158-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. On the base and GT, a 5-speed manual transmission is standard. A 4-speed automatic is optional on the base 1.8 and standard on AWD versions. A 5-speed automatic is optional on front-drive Vibes with the 2.4-liter engine. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. OnStar assistance is standard. All Vibes have 60/40 split folding rear seatbacks. An available pop-up cargo organizer offers divided storage compartments and bag hooks.
