Vehicle Highlights
The 2009 Pontiac Solstice coupe is a new addition to this sporty car's lineup. Solstice is a rear-wheel drive, two-passenger 2-door that lends its basic design to the Saturn Sky. Solstice comes as a convertible with a manual-folding soft top and heated glass rear window. Due later in the model year is a hardtop coupe with removable roof panel. Both body styles come in Base and high-performance GXP trims. Base versions have a 173-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. GXPs have a turbocharged 260-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Both are available with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. A midyear addition to the Solstice lineup is the Street Edition. It has the Base engine but adds leather upholstery, sport suspension, and polished alloy wheels. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, and an antiskid system. Side airbags are not offered. A wireless cell phone link is newly available. Note that General Motors is phasing out the Pontiac brand, a process scheduled for completion by the end of calendar 2010.
