Looking for a comfortable big car that is quick and agile, offers reasonable fuel economy, and provides strong doses of practicality and refinement? Check out Pontiac G8.
John Biel
In looks and driving feel, the G8 offers family sedan buyers something a little off the beaten path of tame and unobtrusive basic transportation. The nicely optioned V6 model in this test topped out at $31,065 delivered, which seems like a good price for a car with this kind of room and comfort--and a regular-gas appetite.
Tom Appel
Roomy, sharp handling, good looking, and affordable. Sounds like Best Buy material to me. Despite buff book rants, the G8 is no BMW 5-Series beater, but for under $30,000, it really doesn't need to be. The base G8 is on the list of cars I would actually pay for and own.

The G8 is a car I'll miss when Pontiac ceases to exist next year. The G8 GXP delivers red-blooded, muscle-car acceleration when called upon, yet it's surprisingly docile and tractable in everyday driving. It also has an adult-size back seat.

Well, Pontiac surely saved the best for last. Any G8 is an impressive sedan, and even in top-spec GXP trim, the car is amazingly capable as a sport sedan, while being very agreeable during the daily commute. Hopefully the basic G8 package will find a place in the "New GM," as the car is much too good to leave us so soon.
Rick Cotta
The GXP in stick-shift form is a stand-out car that can't be duplicated at anywhere near the price. Since it--along with Pontiac itself--is sadly not long for this world, those who manage to procure one will own a fun-to-drive, limited-edition car that is almost sure to be a future collectible.
