Vehicle Highlights
The 2009 Pontiac G6, also called the 2009.5 Pontiac G6, gets some mid-year changes, including slightly freshened styling, a revised audio system, and a new 4-cylinder coupe. This midsize car is available as a 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, or 2-door convertible with a power-retracting hardtop. G6 shares its basic design with the Chevrolet Malibu, Saturn Aura, and Saab 9-3. Sedans are available in 1SV, Base, GT, and sporty GXP trims. Coupes reprise GT and GXP monikers; a Base version is new for 2009.5. Convertibles are GT only.
Base sedans and coupes have a 164-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Optional on the Base sedan and standard on all GTs is a 219-hp 3.5-liter V6. This engine can be equipped to run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. Optional on the convertible is a 222-hp 3.9-liter V6. All these engines team with a 4-speed automatic transmission. A new 6-speed automatic is optional on the 4-cylinder sedan.
GXP models have a 252-hp 3.6-liter V6 and a 6-speed automatic. They also have specific interior and exterior trim with an available "Street Edition" package that includes dual hood scoops and unique rear spoiler. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Remote engine start is available on all models except ISV. GM's OnStar Assistance is standard.
