Vehicle Highlights

The 2009 Pontiac G5 lineup loses its optional engine, but its base motor gets more power. This compact car is similar to the Chevrolet Cobalt, but G5 is only offered as a 2-door coupe. Base and sport-themed G5 GT have a 155-hp 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine, an increase of 7 hp over 2008 models. The GT's 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine has been discontinued. A manual or automatic transmission is available on both trim levels. Base G5 models with the manual transmission and 15-inch wheels are available with an XFE (Xtra Fuel Economy) Package, which includes low-rolling-resistance tires and various drivetrain tweaks designed to increase fuel economy. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. GT models have a sport suspension and specific styling cues. A wireless cell-phone link and USB port for connecting MP3 players are newly available.
