Vehicle Highlights

The 2009 Nissan Quest is largely unchanged for what might be its final model year. This minivan offers four models: 3.5, 3.5 S, 3.5 SL, and top-line 3.5 SE. All have a 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission. Nissan says the engine produces 235 hp when using premium-grade gas and 230 on regular. Front bucket seats are standard. Folding 2nd-row bucket seats and a 3rd-row bench seat that folds into the floorwell are part of the required Seating Package for all models. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Power operation for one or both sliding side doors is available, depending on model. A power liftgate is standard on all but the base model. Rear-obstacle detection is standard on SL and SE and optional on the S. Other available features include a rearview camera, power-adjustable pedals, DVD entertainment, wireless cell-phone link, and navigation system. Nissan's SkyView roof that features four fixed-glass panels over the 2nd- and 3rd-row seats is optional. Note that run-flat tires are no longer available.

COMPETITION

Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Long the choice as a family hauler, Minivans are easily the smartest use of space for passengers and cargo. These vehicles offer a fantastic blend of comfort, convenience, and safety features for the modern family.

Our Best Buys are the Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Honda Odyssey. Our Recommended picks are the Hyundai Entourage, Kia Sedona, and Toyota Sienna.

New for 2009 is the Volkswagen Routan.
