2009 New York Auto Show

Making its North American debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show was the latest addition to the storied Porsche 911 lineup: The 2010 GT3.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3
First shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, GT3 is a racetrack-ready version of Porsche's flagship sports car. Like other 911 models released in model-year 2009, the 2010 GT3 receives more power. It has a rear-mounted 435-horsepower 3.8-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine. Previous GT3 models used a 415-horsepower 3.6-liter "flat" six.

The engine is able to break the 100 horsepower-per-liter barrier without the assistance of a turbocharger or supercharger. Porsche claims 0-60 mph acceleration at 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph.

GT3 has a specifically tuned sport suspension that includes Porsche's Active Suspension Management, which features driver-adjustable settings to suit ultra-high-performance driving. New magnetic-fluid engine mounts are designed to increase body rigidity and improve traction while accelerating from a stop. Optional carbon-ceramic brakes are designed to resist heat and fade for optimal stopping control.

The 2010 911 GT3 is slated to hit dealerships this fall at a starting price of $112,200.
