Just in time for the company's 90th anniversary, Bentley rolls out what it says is its fastest, most powerful car ever.
2010 Bentley Continental Supersport
Dubbed the Continental Supersport, the high-performance coupe caps a lineup of Continental 2-door models that already includes the GT and GT Speed.
Helping the Supersport reach 60 mph in a claimed 3.7 seconds is the most powerful version yet of Bentley's turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine. Thanks in part to a larger intercooler, Supersport boasts 622 horsepower and a top speed of 204 miles per hour. For comparison, the GT Speed makes do with just 600 horsepower, and the GT just 552.

The fastest-ever Bentley may also be the greenest, as the Supersport will be the British automaker's first E85-compatible car. Looking forward, Bentley plans to offer a 100 percent E85-compatible lineup by 2012.
Bentley did not announce pricing for the Supersport, but plans to have the car hit North American showrooms in early 2010 with a starting price of $267,000. European shoppers can drive away in their Supersport a couple months earlier.
CG Says...
Even if we pretend that all the evidence supports E85
as an environmentally sound alternative to gasoline, using it in a car
that comes dangerously close to single-digit fuel-economy seems
disingenuous. That said, all Continentals enjoy a nearly magical
combination of luxury, performance, and prices that are a relative
bargain in the ultra-luxury segment. The Supersport may never be green,
but on a very grand scale, it will likely be a bargain.
