I'm a sucker for fast SUVs, especially ones that are compact or midsize. The Range Rover Sport Supercharged fits right into that category. For those with the wanderlust to go where few wish to venture, yet still want something immensely capable on road, this luxury SUV might be just the thing. For those with no desire to venture from paved roads, BMW's X5 and Mercedes' M-Class represent choices that are both more fuel efficient and less costly.

Jack Stewart

The Range Rover Sport is a fast SUV with competent handling and luxurious interior. However large, fast SUVs seem a waste of resources--even with gas under $2.00.

Jennifer Geiger

If you're among the small group of people looking for an excellent off-road vehicle with strong power and a luxurious cabin, Range Rover Sport should be on your short list. However, its steep price and obvious off-road mission should compel everyone else to look at other vehicles in this class.

Tom Appel

Despite its rakish good looks, the Range Rover Sport is the weak link in the Land Rover lineup. It lacks the chassis sophistication of big brother Range Rover (no Sport) and the people space of the LR3. Bonus rant: Outfitting a Range Rover with Summer performance tires is a little like forcing your Benihana chef to wear mittens. Driving through fresh snow, when it was really time for our test truck to shine, its performance was only marginal, losing bite in corners and sliding sideways under throttle. If I am going to foot the gas tab for an SUV, I'd better be happier than this about its snow slogging skills.
