2009 Kia Optima Full Review
Date Published: 4/30/08
2009 Kia Optima Sneak Peek
The 2009 Kia Optima gets fresh styling, a new trim level, and more power. Optima shares its basic design with the Sonata produced by Kia's corporate parent, Hyundai. Optima comes in base LX, new-for-2009 SX, and uplevel EX models, each with a choice of a 175-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine or a 190-hp 2.7-liter V6. These represent gains of 13 hp and 5 hp, respectively, over the 2008 Optima. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on the 4-cylinder LX. A 5-speed automatic is optional for that model, and is standard otherwise. Available safety equipment includes ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Leather upholstery is standard on EX and SX. Available features should include heated front seats, sunroof, power-adjustable pedals, navigation system, and satellite radio. We have not yet tested a 2009 Kia Optima.
