Vehicle Highlights
The 2009 Kia Borrego is a new midsize SUV from this Korean automaker. The Borrego marks Kia's first offering that is available with a V8 engine. This seven-passenger 4-door SUV uses traditional truck-type construction and comes in three trim levels, base LX, mid-level EX, and top-line Limited. Power comes from a 276-hp 3.8-liter V6 paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 337-hp 4.6-liter V8 that mates to a 6-speed automatic. Both rear-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive will be offered--4WD models have low-range gearing for off-roading. LX V8s are 4WD only. Limiteds are V8 only with rear- or 4-wheel drive. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Available features include an uplevel audio system, fold-flat second and third row seats, a navigation system, satellite radio, MP3 and USB capability, and a rearview camera. A power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, leather upholstery, and heated front seats are standard on the Limited and optional on the EX. Heated 2nd-row seats, power adjustable pedals, and keyless access and engine start are Limited-exclusive standard features. Towing capacity is 5000 lb with the V6 and 7500 lb with the V8.
