The 2009 Kia Borrego is a new midsize SUV from the Korean automaker. The Borrego marks Kia's first offering of a V8 engine. This seven-passenger 4-door SUV uses traditional truck-type construction and comes in two trim levels, base LX and top-line EX. Power comes from either a 3.8-liter V6 or a 4.6-liter V8. Borrego is available with a choice of either a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed automatic. Both rear-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive will be offered--4WD models will have low-range gearing for off-roading. LX V8s will be 4WD only. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Available features include an uplevel audio system, fold-flat second and third row seats, a navigation system, satellite radio, MP3 and USB capability, power-adjustable pedals, and a rearview camera. Towing capacity is 5000 lb with the V6 and 7500 lb with the V8. We have not yet tested a 2009 Kia Borrego.
