ACCELERATION
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 5 | 5.6 |
Entourage accelerates strongly from a stop--a brisk 8.4 seconds 0-60 mph in our testing. Rolling acceleration can seem sluggish because the automatic transmission is sometimes slow to downshift for extra power. Also, the transmission isn't always quick to follow manual gear changes.
FUEL ECONOMY
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 4 | 4.3 |
In Consumer Guide testing, Entourages and Sedonas averaged 16.5-18.1 in a mix of city/highway driving, 19.2-22.7 mpg with mostly highway driving. A test Sedona averaged 16.1 mpg in mostly city use. Both minivans use regular-grade gas.
RIDE QUALITY
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 6 | 6.6 |
The ride is comfortable for a minivan, but is not quite car-like. The suspension is generally composed and smooths out small bumps well, but it bounces some over larger humps. Entourage Limited and Sedona EX have 17-inch tires that make the ride a bit more jiggly over rippled pavement.
STEERING/HANDLING/BRAKING
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 5 | 5.2 |
Handling is typical for a minivan. It never feels nimble, and there is marked body lean in turns. The handling is not noticeably improved with the 17-inch tires. The steering is nicely weighted, but feels numb.
QUIETNESS
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 6 | 6.4 |
The engine emits a full-throttle growl, but is reasonably quiet otherwise. Tire thrum and some body rumble are noticed even in low-speed city/suburban driving. Wind rush joins in at highway speeds.
CONTROLS
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 7 | 6.4 |
Entourage and Sedona share a dashboard with large, unobstructed gauges and clearly marked, nicely sized, easy-to-reach controls.
DETAILS
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 5 | 5.7 |
The cabin is short on soft-touch surfaces and long on nondescript plastics. Materials are mostly in line with pricing. Some test examples of both Entourage and Sedona annoyed with creaking interior panels and rattling 2nd- and 3rd-row seats.
ROOM/COMFORT/DRIVER SEATING (FRONT)
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 7 | 8 |
Comfortable chair-height seats and ample headroom, but lanky drivers may want more rearward seat travel. Easy entry and exit. The thick windshield pillars can impede visibility to the front corners, but sight lines are clear elsewhere. Like some rivals, Entourage and Sedona have a flip-down center tray table that's handy, but it lets items slide around a lot. Standard three-zone climate control is an upscale touch.
ROOM/COMFORT (REAR)
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 7 | 8.1 |
Comfortable 2nd-row seats offer adult-size headroom and legroom even with the front seats fully back. The somewhat tight 3rd row is adult-comfortable for short trips. Power or manual, some testers say the sliding doors don't open wide enough for best rear entry and exit. The bulk of the folded 2nd-row seats hampers access to 3rd row. Standard power windows in the sliding doors are a fresh-air plus.
CARGO ROOM
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 10 | 10 |
Deep well behind the 3rd-row seat is a useful cargo hold, and the seat sections fold into it easily for even more space. Second-row seats tumble and fold for generous load volume. They can also be removed, but weigh 60 lb each. Small-item storage is generous thanks to several cubbies located throughout the cabin.
VALUE WITHIN CLASS
| GLS | Class Average |
|---|---|
| 7 | 7.3 |
Entourage and the similar Kia Sedona earn our Recommended nod for their size, utility, and standard safety features. Warranty coverage is impressive, and they beat every comparably equipped rival on price.
