Our $51,000 tester could have been a $49,000 tester were it not for the optional ride-compromising 20-inch tires on chrome wheels. That complaint aside, these big GM SUVs are awfully nice trucks. The new, slick 6-speed automatic only sweetens the package. Even fuel-economy is surprising. I averaged nearly 17 mpg with some open highway cruising. If you need a truck this big, this big truck might be what you need.

Yukon Denali Hybrid offers nothing of substance over the standard hybrid version. If you're going to spend $65,000 on this, you might as well pony up a bit more and go for the hybrid Cadillac Escalade, with its nicer interior materials.

John Biel

As we've noted about Yukons in general, the Denali is probably the worst value-for-the-money choice in this vehicle line. Therefore, the Denali Hybrid should be the lesser value-for-the-money Hybrid choice of the bunch (now that there is a choice of 2-mode Hybrid models). High-teens fuel mileage with a majority of highway miles is a nice plus--and the 6.0-liter Hybrid engine can run on regular-grade gas. However, going green with a Denali takes lots of long green, $61,000 to be exact. (With options and delivery, our tester cleared $65K.)
