The 2009 Dodge Sprinter loses its gasoline engine, leaving only the turbodiesel 154-hp 3.0-liter V6, which is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Sprinter gets a power-sliding option for its passenger-side sliding door, and available are a 180-degree rear door opening, and roof rails on the cargo van. Roof rails are also available on the passenger van. Three models are offered: 2500, 2500 cargo extended, and 3500. 2500 is available as a passenger van. 2500 and 3500 are available in standard roof, high roof, or mega roof form, and come in two wheelbases: 144 and 170 inches. The high roof adds 11 inches of interior room and the mega roof adds 19 to the standard roof height of 65 inches. Dual rear wheels are standard on 3500 models. Passenger models have room for up to 12 passengers on rear bench seats with an emergency exit window. A tire pressure monitoring system is standard on 2500 models. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, dual front airbags, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Optional equipment includes a heated windshield with rain-sensing wipers, sunroof, front and rear sensing, a driver's side sliding door on cargo van, and a rear back-up alarm.
