2009 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S

As S models, Quattroportes are sportier versions of the base sedans. The new Sport GT S takes things up another notch.
Sport GT S upgrades include sharper handling thanks to firmer front and rear spring rates and a nominally lowered ride height. There's more power, too. The Sport GT S uses the Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 from the S, but tuned to 433 horsepower, eight more than the S. Base Quattroportes have a 405-horsepower 4.2-liter version of the same engine.
CG Says... Like Bentley, Maserati has carved a nice niche for itself at the bottom
of the exotic car category. Even at $134,000, the Sport GT S can
realistically be cross shopped with pricier BMW and Mercedes-Benz
sedans. A viscerally thrilling ride, any Quattroporte is rewarding to
pilot. Assuming the ride isn't bone crushing, a sportier Quattroporte
sounds like just the thing for the well-heeled rebel with the
occasional need for rear-passenger space. Question: How long before a
GranTourismo Sport GT S is announced? |
Too good for mere carbon fiber, the Sport GT S cabin is trimmed in something called Titan Tex, an ultra-lightweight, aluminum-coated titanium fiber. Available drilled aluminum pedals add to the cabin's metallic sheen.
The Sport GT S goes on sale this spring and will start at $134,000.
