Vehicle Highlights

The 2009 Chevrolet HHR lineup receives a host of changes, including more standard power, the ability to run on E85 ethanol-blended fuel, and some new features. This compact wagon is named for its "Heritage High Roof" styling inspired by 1950s Chevrolet Suburbans. HHR is front-wheel drive and shares some of its basic design with Chevy's Cobalt. Most HHR models seat five, but Chevy also offers a two-seat "Panel" version that targets delivery companies. Regular and Panel models come in LS, LT, and high-performance SS trim levels. The SS Panel is new for 2009. LS and LT have a 155-hp 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is an increase of 6 hp over 2008 models. Optional for LT is a 172-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. Both these engines are now capable of running on E85 ethanol-blended fuel. The SS has a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 250 or 260 hp depending on transmission selection. SS versions have a specific sport suspension, 18-inch wheels, and unique trim. Manual or automatic transmission is available on LS and SS. The automatic is standard on LT. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. Newly available on the 2009 HHR is a wireless cell-phone link.
