Mini E Concept
The plug-in electric Mini E Concept charged up crowds at the L.A. Auto Show.

There may be a dark cloud hovering over the auto industry these days, but it won't dampen the 2009 auto show season. There are four major auto shows in the United States. The Los Angeles Auto Show in November is a showcase for high-end manufacturers like Aston Martin, Lotus, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.

Detroit follows in January. Motor City's show is jam-packed with new production and concept reveals, each automaker trying to outdo the previous. In February, it's Chicago's turn. The biggest show in square footage, and Consumer Guide's hometown show, the Chicago Auto Show combines Detroit's new product announcements and L.A.'s glitz, while sporting a few surprises of its own. The season is capped in April with the New York Auto Show. It wraps a year's worth of concept cars, production reveals, and news into one package delivered from the media capital of the world.

Don't worry if you can't get to one of these major shows. It's a good bet that many concept and production cars revealed at these shows will travel to your local show. In addition, Consumer Guide covers each one of these shows for you, giving you a close look at the hottest concepts and production vehicles on the stage and filling you in on the important details you'll need to make the right vehicle choice.
