The 2008 Volkswagen Passat has several new trim levels. Sedans and station wagons are offered in Turbo, Komfort, Lux, and 4Motion VR6 models. The sedan adds a front-drive VR6 model. Turbo, Komfort, and Lux Passats have a turbocharged 200-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. The VR6 models have a 280-hp 3.6-liter V6. Six-cylinder sedans offer the choice of front drive or VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive, but 6-cylinder wagons are only offered with 4Motion. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on Turbo models. A 6-speed automatic is optional for Turbo and is standard on all other versions. Available safety equipment includes ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, front side airbags, rear side airbags, and curtain side airbags. A navigation system, steering-linked bi-xenon headlamps, and leather upholstery are available. Adaptive cruise control is available on VR6 sedans.
