The 2008 Subaru Tribeca drops the B9 prefix from its name but gains freshened styling and more power. This midsize SUV seats for five or seven and is available in base and uplevel Limited trims. All-wheel drive without low-range gearing again teams with a 6-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. For 2008, the engine grows from 3.0 to 3.6 liters to yield 256 hp, up from 245. A 5-speed automatic is the sole transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 3500 lb. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Rear-obstacle detection and a navigation system with rearview camera are available, as is remote engine start. An optional rear DVD entertainment system is exclusive to seven-passenger Limiteds.
