The 2008 Scion xD replaces the subcompact xA, last sold as a 2006 model. Although the xD casts nearly the same-size shadow as its predecessor, it rides on a roughly four-inch longer wheelbase. It also gets more power and additional standard safety and convenience features. The xD comes with a 128-hp 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine and manual or automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, an antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows/locks/mirrors, remote keyless entry, tilt steering wheel with audio controls, and a 60/40 split folding rear seat that slides fore and aft to benefit either passenger or cargo room.
