Vehicle Highlights
The 2008 Roush Mustang is a high-performance version of Ford's Mustang "pony car." Several versions are available. Roush is an independent company that modifies existing vehicles to such an extent that it becomes the manufacturer of record. The company's Stage 3 and 427R models are essentially Mustang GTs with upgraded styling, handling, and additional power. The Stage 3 adds a supercharger to the Mustang GT's 4.6-liter V8, for a total of 430 hp. The 427R uses the same supercharged engine, but makes 435 hp. Both are available with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. The 427R also has unique wheels. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, and front side airbags. Other available features include a short-throw shifter for manual-transmission models. Note that Roush also offers performance upgrades for V6 models as well as aftermarket performance equipment. This evaluation is based on preview test drives.
