I've always thought high-performance SUVs were silly, and they're a lot sillier now that gas is $4 a gallon and up. Kudos to Porsche, however, for going all the way with this oxymoronic concept. If you're smitten with the idea of rowing your own gears and carving corners in your 5000-lb, 405-hp SUV (and you've got $70-$90K burning a hole in your pocket), then your dream vehicle has arrived.

If sporty, manual-transmission-equipped luxury (90K ) SUVs with V8 power are your thing, check out the Cayenne GTS. All others need not apply.

Apparently you can change the laws of physics, or least Porsche can. It is seemingly impossible that anything this pudgy can move with such quickness and grace. As a bonus, it's a hoot to drive an SUV this big with stick. Our GTS stickered up to an eye-popping $90,000, at which point you gotta ask yourself some hard questions. But no one is cross shopping Cayenne against Honda Pilot, and no one expects a Pilot to carve up on ramps with 911-like reflexes. If you're rich, need the space, and want to drive really fast...think Cayenne GTS.
