The 2008 Pontiac G5 XFE is a new option package designed to offer improved fuel economy. Otherwise, this compact car is largely unchanged. G5 is similar to the Chevrolet Cobalt, but G5 is only offered as a 2-door coupe. Base G5s have a 148-hp 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine. The sport-themed GT has a 171-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. Each is available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Base G5s with the manual transmission are available with the XFE Package, which includes specific tires and powertrain tweaks designed to maximize fuel economy. An antiskid system and OnStar assistance are newly standard features on the 2008 G5 GT. Other available safety features on this car include ABS, traction control, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags.
