2008 Nissan Sentra Review
The 2008 Nissan Sentra is largely unchanged. Base 2.0, uplevel 2.0 S, top-line 2.0 SL, performance SE-R, and SE-R Spec V models are offered. The 2.0 models have a 140-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. The 2.0 S comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. Optional on 2.0 S and standard on 2.0 and 2.0 SL is a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The SE-R has a 177-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a CVT; Spec V also has a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder but with 200 hp and a mandatory 6-speed manual. SE-R and Spec V have 4-wheel disc brakes, sport suspension, and specific exterior and interior styling cues. Available safety features include ABS, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. On 2.0 models, the rear seat cushion can be flipped forward, allowing the split rear seatback to fold flat with the floor. Leather upholstery, wireless cell phone link, and keyless access/starting are standard on SL.
Competition
Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 19 classes based on size, price, and market position. Compact Cars comprise popularly priced sedans, hatchbacks, and wagons with wheelbases 100 inches or longer.

Our Best Buys include the Honda Civic, Nissan Versa, and Scion xB. Our Recommended picks are the Hyundai Elantra and Mazda 3.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Ford Focus, Saturn Astra, Subaru Impreza and Scion xB.

News
The addition of the sporty SE-R and SE-R Spec V complete the redesigned 2007 Sentra lineup. Since it's new, don't expect any major changes or additions in the near future.
