Budget pricing is a Rogue asset, but the compact SUV class is full of strong contenders that are quieter and more refined overall than Nissan's new entry.

Shoppers looking for a compact SUV are a fortunate bunch. There's so much good product here that it's gotta be hard to make a decision. There's the ultra-popular Honda CR-V, which blends price and utility so well. There's the new Saturn Vue that leads the class in refinement and available power. Now there's the Rogue. Our very basic S came with only the bare necessities, yet proved a fine place from which to conduct the business of commuting. The engine and CVT automatic make a fair amount of noise, but the power's good. Rogue's airy interior gets the big points from me, however. I'm a big guy but had all the head and shoulder room that I long for in other vehicles in this class. Shopping CR-V? Have a look at the Rogue, you might like it.
