Consumer Guide® Road Test Ratings
Acceleration
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |

Only an AWD MKX has been made available for us to test so far. It has smooth, linear power for good around-town response and ready highway acceleration.
Fuel Economy

3.3 |
In Consumer Guide testing, MKXs averaged 16.5-16.7 mpg. MKX uses regular-grade gas.
Ride Quality
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |

5.8 |
MKX's tires thump over sharp ridges and crevices, but most road imperfections are nicely absorbed, resulting in a stable, comfortable ride.
Steering/Handling/Braking
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |
| 6 |
5.5 |
Body lean and noseplow are evident in brisk cornering, but MKX otherwise feels confident and controlled. The steering is slightly numb and light in straight-line cruising and springs back to center with exaggerated force when completing turns.
Quietness
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |
| 7 |
6.7 |
Lincoln says MKX has more sound-deadening measures than Edge. As a result, MKX is among the quietest of any crossovers. The engine note is subdued in all but rapid acceleration. Wind and road noise levels are luxury-car low. Normal conversation is no problem with the panoramic sunroof open, even at highway speeds.
Controls
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |
| 7 |
6.3 |
The gauges and switches are nicely marked and unobstructed. Some drivers may have to stretch to reach the navigation touch screen and its controls. The navigation system absorbs most audio functions but is easy enough to program.

While the interior is the same overall design as the Ford Edge, MKX is decidedly more upscale, if just a bit shy of the best in this class. This Lincoln makes wise use of padded surfaces and genuine wood trim. Absence of a rearview camera is an embarrassing omission for a premium-class SUV.
Room/Comfort/Driver Seating (front)
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |

7.5 |
Ample legroom. Taller occupants may want more head clearance beneath the housing for the panoramic roof. Supportive seats trimmed in soft leather are exceptionally comfortable. Rear headrests partially block the rearward view.
Room/Comfort (rear)
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |

6.5 |
Fine accommodations with a firm, chair-height bench and plenty of room for most any individual. The seatback reclines, but its release lever also allows it to fold forward too readily.
Cargo Room
| AWD w/ Ultimate, Elite pkgs. |
Class Average |
| 8 |
8.6 |
Spacious with the rear seats up or down with a low deck for easy loading. The rear seatbacks conveniently drop via a remote release, though they don't fold completely flat. Generous interior storage space includes a large center console.

It may not be quite as posh or refined as some premium crossovers, but MKX deserves consideration. It's priced less than most rivals, yet is competitive in power, size, and equipment levels. The question is whether the Lincoln brand has enough cache to draw buyers over from the prestige imports, or up from the Ford Edge, which shares the MKX's basic design.
